Tiny home designs have many variations. Tiny homes can be manufactured as barn-style cabins or manufactured as a living space for one or two people.

There are several different types of tiny home designs. Some of the tiny home designs include, but are not limited to, living or bedroom on-site; decking and patio. A combination of both is also popular.

For tiny homes built on-site, the construction process includes having the inside and outside home built separately. While on-site construction requires preparation of the site prior to the building, other buildings may be built after the house is erected.

Tiny homes manufactured on-site may include a cottage style, studio style, log cabin, small town house, or standard sized house.

With regard to the bedroom, on-site construction includes having the inside home built around the outside home. The reason why on-site is preferred is that it provides additional protection from possible adverse weather conditions. On-site construction can require higher costs than manufactured home construction.

For tiny homes manufactured on-site, construction begins with receiving and gathering of construction materials prior to beginning the erection process. On-site construction does not include the building of the exterior walls and roofing because it would be costly to erect them. The parts of the house constructed on-site include foundation and walls, roofing, flooring, electrical, plumbing, appliances, windows, cabinets, appliances, etc.

Many tiny homes are manufactured with a model of their home design, according to a manufacturer’s specifications. Other manufacturers, however, do not require a model. This gives the consumer more options and decisions.

Mini-house designs and models that are not manufactured on-site can be purchased from a supplier. This type of home may include materials and parts already assembled for the house, or they may have to be designed, purchased, and built.

They can be either built-up or stand-alone, depending on where the consumer lives and the construction requirements. One of the biggest differences between the two is cost.
